La vita di Wade Wilson, che ha ormai smesso di fare il mercenario in costume, non ha preso una bella piega. Negli ultimi anni la sua compagna l'ha lasciato e ora sta frequentando un altro uomo; al lavoro, come venditore di auto al fianco di Peter, gli affari arrancano; il colloquio per entrare negli Avengers è andato malissimo. Ciò nonostante Wade ha ancora i suoi amici intorno e, quando la TVA lo rapisce e gli comunica che la sua linea temporale sta per essere cancellata, ecco che Wade torna a mettere i panni di Deadpool e si lancia in una assurda impresa, per cui ha assolutamente bisogno di collaborare con una variante di Wolverine. Dopo diversi tentativi abortiti, trova un Logan depresso dai molti fallimenti e lo porta con sé per fermare la TVA, che però li esilia entrambi nel "vuoto", un'apocalittica dimensione dominata da Alioth (una grande tempesta dal volto di lupo) e da Cassandra Nova, la folle e potentissima gemella di Charles Xavier.
