Dreadout è un horror psicologico (sullo stesso genere del popolare Fatal Frame), in cui un gruppo di studenti asiatici che si recano in una vecchia città indonesiana abbandonata, vi trovano molto più del previsto.

Il gioco inizia con una serie di eventi terrificanti che iniziano poco dopo che si arriva alla destinazione. Vestirete i panni dell’eroe, un giovane studente di scuola superiore che si addentra in una città abbandonata che, pur mostrando segni visibili di vita, è la casa di un certo numero di spiriti ultraterreni che si dimostreranno tutt'altro che amichevoli...
