Matchbox è una band rockabilly inglese che si è formata nel 1971 ed è ancora attiva dal 2019.

Formata nel Middlesex, da Iain "Houndog" Terry, Fred Poke, Jimmy Redhead e Wiffle Smith. Dopo il 1978, la formazione consisteva in Graham Fenton (voce solista), Steve Bloomfield (chitarra solista, voce), Gordon Scott (chitarra ritmica), Fred Poke (chitarra basso) e Jimmy Redhead (batteria). I Redhead erano partiti nel 1973, Smith nel 1977 e Lupton nel 1978 per andare in tournée con Chuck Berry. Dick Callan si unì a Matchbox per chitarra, sassofono e violino fino al 1985 circa, scrivendo molti dei lati B della band.
I più grandi successi della band includono "Rockabilly Rebel", "Midnite Dynamos", una cover di "When You Ask About Love" dei The Crickets (il loro unico successo tra i primi cinque) e "Over the Rainbow" (canzone musicale adattata, 1980). In Australia, la band e l'album sono stati soprannominati Major Matchbox per evitare confusione con una band australiana con un nome simile. Il loro ultimo singolo, "I Want Out" (1983) del loro album, Crossed Line, è stato prodotto insieme a Kirsty MacColl. la band apparve nel film Blue Suede Shoes del 1980 che descriveva in dettaglio il revival della scena musicale rock'n'roll degli anni '50.
